It is indeed a great honour for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she was bestowed with the most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke awards in Mumbai. The actress won the award for a wonderful performance in the movie Sarbjit. She looked breathtakingly beautiful in an Anju Modi outfit. She was all smiles for the shutterbugs as she posed with Hema Malini at the event. Kudos to you Aishwarya! Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkumar Rao, Asha Bhosle, Dilip Kumar have been been awarded with this prestigious award in the past.
The actress made her Bollywood comeback with Jazbaa but somehow the film didn’t do well for her. She was next seen in Sarabjit and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and she was utterly fabulous in both! Talking about Sarbjit, the film was critically acclaimed and featured Aishwarya Rai as Dalbir Kaur. Directed by Omung Kumar, Sarabjit also starred Randeep Hooda who played the titular role of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 and who consequently spent 22 years in prison for alleged terrorism. Ash and Randeep were both terrific as Dalbir and Sarabjit in the film.
In other news, Aishwarya was in the news recently as she lost her dad Krishnaraj Rai to cancer. On the work front, rumours are rife that Ash and Abhishek are all set to reunite on the big screen. If reports are to be believed, the duo are all set to come together on screen in Anurag Kashyap’s Gulab Jamun. Apparently, the film is a rom-com and it is to be helmed by a new comer. Reportedly, Anurag Kashyap will be producing the film. We hear that both Aishwarya and Abhishek have liked the script, but the makers are yet to get a nod from them. Rumour mills are busy churning that Amitabh Bachchan may also have a significant role in the film. Last week, Bachchan Jr posted a throwback picture with wifey Aish from the sets of Raavan and needless to say, it triggered the speculations of them coming back together for a film.
