Befikre released last Friday and given the way the film had created a frenzy, it managed to earn great numbers at the box office in its first day itself. Saturday was expected to bring in more money but that’s not what exactly happened. It saw limited growth on second day taking the toll to Rs. 21.96 crore. Taran Adarsh shared the figures, saying, “#Befikre has limited growth on Sat… Sun crucial… Fri 10.36 cr, Sat 11.60 cr. Total: Rs. 21.96 cr [2100 screens]. India biz.” After a great first day start, it was expected to earn more on its second day at the box office because a film earns majorly over its first weekend as it is fresh. Hence, trade was expecting somewhere near Rs. 12-13 crore on its second day but it could take home only 11. 60 cr.
With the way things are going for the film, it will be able to have a Rs. 30 crore opening weekend instead of a Rs. 35 crore one, as predicted. Now it all rests on Sunday to post a figure that will take the first weekend haul to a decent number. But if you see, these aren’t bad numbers either. A film which is made at a budget of Rs. 55 crore and was released at 2100 screens, these are decent figures. The film will be earning well today which will only help its cause.
It is imperative to have a decent first weekend haul because weekdays generally sees drastic drops which can severe a film’s chances. Befikre will be able to pick up today and then keep a respectable score over its first week to emerge victorious. The best part is it doesn’t have a stiff competition in the coming weekend what with Wajah Tum Ho releasing. If the first week gets good numbers, the second week will only be bonus. We wonder if it is because of the mixed reactions the film got from the critics. While Ranveer Singh’s performance was widely appreciated, people didn’t really have great words to describe the film.
