Sooraj Pancholi Talks About The New Developments In Jiah Khan’s Suicide Case

Sooraj Pancholi

Yesterday, we told you about a new development in the Jiah Khan suicide case, wherein a British forensic expert has concluded that her hanging was staged and the marks on her face and neck do not point towards a suicide at all.

When Sooraj Pancholi was asked about these new reports by Bombay Times, he said:

“My case has been a media trial since day one. Things have been in the papers before reaching the court, and sometimes in the papers without the court being aware. But enough is enough, if someone wants justice, they will get it in due time. I hope they get justice, even I want to know what the truth is. People should understand that even I have lost a dear one. I understand what they are going through, but this is not the way to conduct a court case, by leading the court and the people of the country to think differently.”

He further said:

“Whenever something good is happening in my life, personally or professionally, someone tries to put me down. It gets difficult. You cannot accuse someone of a crime, without knowing the facts. You have to know the truth before saying whatever you feel like saying.”

On waiting for court proceedings to commence, he said:

“We haven’t gone against what they are saying, but we have been patiently waiting for over three years for the trial to begin. Like everyone else, I too deserve a fair trial. I don’t know why, in my case, things are told to the media before the court. Why not wait for the court to decide the final verdict? They are trying to brainwash people and portray me as a criminal, which is not true.”

And finally, his demand for a fair trial:

“No accused asks for his trial to begin, but I’m asking to open the trial soon. Whatever the accusation, I deserve a fair trial, so that I can move on in life. These things are planned to target my progress and stop my daily life. I want this pain to end for both sides. I don’t have any hard feelings for anyone. I just want a fair trial and live my life after that. This has stretched for too long.”

Jiah’s mother, Rabia Khan will submit the new finding by the UK-based forensic investigator, Jason Payne-James today.

Jiah Khan suicide: HC stays Sooraj Pancholi’s trial for 3 weeks

The Bombay High Court yesterday extended the stay on the trial in a lower court against actor Sooraj Pancholi, accused of abetting the suicide of actress Jiah Khan in 2013, and posted a petition filed by her mother Rabia seeking a SIT probe into Jiah’s death after three weeks. A division bench of Justices NH Patil and PD Naik adjourned Rabia’s petition at the request of her advocate Dhairyasheel Patil who said he needed time as he was appointed only yesterday.

“Time and again, adjournment is being requested in this matter. The Supreme Court had directed for it to be heard and disposed of at the earliest. This is the last time we are granting adjournment,” the HC said. “The interim relief granted in the petition by way of stay on the trial in the lower court is extended for a period of three weeks,” the bench said.

In her petition before HC, Rabia had sought the probe by Special Investigation Team(SIT) alleging that CBI, investigating the case, had concurred with the finding of the Mumbai Police that Jiah’s death was a case of suicide and not homicide. She had requested the HC to set up a Special Investigation Team to probe the case afresh. Jiah’s boyfriend-cum-actor Sooraj was arrested on the charge of abetting her suicide on June 10, 2013, a week after the actress was found hanging at her residence in Mumbai. He was released on July 2, 2013, after the HC granted him bail.

Sooraj Pancholi Reportedly Sent Abusive Messages To Jiah Khan Before She Committed Suicide!

Times Of India has reported that Sooraj Pancholi lost his cool on Jiah Khan on the night she committed suicide. He reportedly sent her a barrage of abusive messages because of a fight the two had. In their chargesheet, the CBI have stated that on June 3, 2013, Sooraj sent a bouquet to Jiah as she had bagged two films and an item song. He then went on to have dinner with a friend at a suburban five star. The chargesheet further stated that at 10.04pm, he called Jiah and said he was at the hotel and waiting for a jewelry designer. Jiah allegedly called the woman to confirm this,  but the designer told Jiah that she was to meet Sooraj the next day. This misunderstanding apparently lead to the fight they had.

The CBI mentioned that Sooraj requested the jewelry designer to call Jiah up and clear the air. But her calls to Jiah couldn’t get through. Jiah then repeatedly called and messaged Sooraj, who called her back at 10.22 pm. Following which, she went to his house. To avoid her, the domestic help said that Sooraj was busy, but later when he was sent to fetch her, she had left.  CCTV footage showed Jiah returned home at 10.48 pm. Sooraj called her at 10.54 pm and this was the last conversation between the couple.

Sooraj Pancholi Aided Jiah Khan’s Abortion, According To The CBI

It was reported yesterday that the CBI has filed a chargesheet in the Jiah Khan suicide case, and now, Mumbai Mirror has obtained some rather disturbing details about it. A source informed the paper about the alleged involvement of Sooraj Pancholi in the matter, on the express condition of anonymity. Here are a few excerpts from the chargesheet –

Jiah was four weeks pregnant when she informed Pancholi about it.The couple then approached a physician who prescribed some medicines for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) but that didn’t help. The couple then approached another doctor and finally a gynecologist who prescribed a stronger and more effective combination of drugs. After taking the medicine, Khan started hemorrhaging and called Pancholi for help. She was in pain and needed immediate medical attention but Pancholi allegedly asked her to wait and called up the gynecologist for guidance. He was asked to rush Khan to hospital as the fetus had probably aborted but had not been expelled from the body, which is probably what led to the hemorrhaging.

The chargesheet further adds that Pancholi was afraid that if Khan got hospitalized, their relationship would become public and his career would be affected. Sooraj then decided to take matters in his own hands rather than risk going to a hospital. He reportedly extricated the fetus and disposed it in the toilet. This allegedly left a deep emotional scar on Khan as she was very possessive about Pancholi and the latter started avoiding her, possibly for the sake of his acting career. This added to her depression which finally drove her to suicide.

The CBI has charged Sooraj of abatement of suicide. His mother, Zarina Wahab, told Mumbai Mirror:

“We came to know about the filing of the charge sheet via media only and we were not intimated by the investigating agency.” Wahab added that the family’s lawyer will decide the future course of action after going through the charge sheet.

Hero movie review: Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty manage to shine despite a weak script!

Salman Khan introduces Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi in his production venture…

This week is one of the most exciting ones for Bollywood as two star kids – Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty will make their Bollywood debut with Salman Khan’s production venture. Aditya Pancholi’s son and Suneil Shetty’s daughter will star in Nikhil Advani’s directorial venture, Hero, which is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1983 classic that starred Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri. I saw the film and here’s my take on the new version of the classic film…

What’s it about:

Nikhil Advani’s Hero begins like any other film with two aspiring debutantes would. The camera plays with Sooraj’s well chiseled torso, showcasing his flex ready biceps and that hawk eyed gaze which becomes his USP through the film. A remake of the 1983 Jackie Shroff- Meenakshi Sheshadri film, the story has been given a 2015 makeover. The core elements remain – warring families, puppy love simmering against a bloody backdrop with musical numbers that showcase two newcomers. Athiya Shetty plays Sooraj’s love interest Radha, who is a heady concoction of the girl next door who has a dramatic metamorphosis nearing the blood soaked climax. It’s a traditional love story tailor made to emphasize Sooraj and Athiya’s strengths and attempt to hide their weaknesses. Along the way we meet a bunch of characters played by the parents, friends and not one but two baddies who let Sooraj show off his fighting skills. Sooraj and Radha’s love story isn’t glitch free, but there it definitely manages to give these two young actors a decent debut vehicle.

What’s hot:

From the very first frame Sooraj Pancholi fills up the screen with this charm and sex appeal. There will be a lot of oohs and aahs from girls (and a few boys) when he rips that shirt apart and makes his stunning entry. There is a certain ease about him which leaves a lasting impression. Sooraj will definitely be lapped up after Hero by other filmmakers who would hopefully give him diverse roles. Athiya might bear an uncanny resemblance to Sonam Kapoor, but she breaks that early on in the film. As the goofball who doesn’t know what situation she’s thrown in, Athiya plays Radha will utmost conviction. The cinematography works in the first half, especially in the scenes up north. Sooraj and Athiya have great chemistry which works in making their story favorable. Aditya Pancholi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vivan Bhatena and Chetan Hansraj are the supporting pillars to the love story. Nikhil Advani impresses in scenes where Sooraj and Radha are speaking through their eyes rather than words.

What’s not:

The problem lies with the script. It just isn’t innovative or fresh enough. Advani plays safe and doesn’t offer anything new. The story sort of reaches a stale mate in the second half. The introduction of Vivan Bhatena as the baddie seems like an added distraction to shift focus from the lack of a cohesive plot. Also Athiya’s costumes and make up looks sketchy, especially the close ups. There are some badly edited scenes. Sooraj and Athiya fall in a downstream river that oddly takes them up north where Athiya offers prayers to ‘Buddha ji’ promising him she will abscond from all things bad. Only if she had made a similar promise after reading the shoddy script. Except the title song, nothing stands out. In fact the Romeo Juliet skit act in the second half just tests our patience wearing us out. Sooraj has a fantastic body, but every time he rips his shirt to shred, we don’t need a minute long tribute to his naked torso.

What to do:

Sooraj and Athiya show immense promise. Unfortunately, Hero doesn’t do justice to their potential.

After Jiah Khan‘s alleged suicide two years ago, everyone wanted to speak to Sooraj Pancholiabout it as he was dating her at the time. But Sooraj, along with his entire family, chose to keep mum. However, now that Sooraj is gearing up for his Bollywood debut Hero, he’s finally opening up about Jiah Khan.

Apparently, it was his mentor Salman Khan‘s idea. That’s right! We hear that it was Salman who told Sooraj, that if he doesn’t talk about Jiah when asked, the media will misconstrue that and a lot of negative publicity will build pre-release.

Here are 3 things he said:

       1. On whether he’s guilty…

“Dekho main kabhi saamne se nahi bolunga ki maine galti nahi ki hai, ki maine galti ki hai ya jo bhi hai!”

       2. On Jiah Khan…

“Nafisa (Jiah Khan) will always remain in my mind and in my heart.”

       3. On the verdict…

“If I’m wrong, nothing can save me. But if I’m right or if I’”
