Indians seem to be the flavour of the season in Hollywood. After Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone set the tone right, it is Bappi Lahiri who has now decided to spread his bling in the west. The veteran composer has lent his voice for a prime character in Disney’s musical anime film, Moana.

Talking to from USA, Bappi said, “Working in Hollywood was an amazing experience. I am happy that I got the opportunity to lend my voice for this beautiful Disney film. I have always been a fan of animated films and immensely enjoyed Jungle Book. So when Disney offered me the opportunity to dub for the character of the giant crab called Tamatoa, I was excited to take it up primarily because I have never dubbed for any animated film before. Also, I got the chance to sing a song called Shona in this film. From Amitabh Bachchan to Ranveer Singh, I have sung for different generations of actors. Now to sing in Hollywood is an altogether different experience.”

Bappi who keeps himself busy with shows these days is thankful for the love his fans keep showering. “There are many composers today. It’s a clutter out there. But I am grateful and thankful to my fans for having kept my music alive. My shows are always sold out and it is is only because of my fans who still love listening to my tunes.”

Often called the original disco king of Indian music, Bappi is now gearing up to come out with a new single featuring him and rapper Snopp Dogg. Talking about collaborating with international artistes, Bappi said, “Music is truly universal and has no boundaries. Collaborating with international artistes like Snoop Dogg and Akon have only helped my music evolve.”

For the moment, Bappi is excited to see the response of viewers towards his anime film Moana which will open in India on December 2. The movie stars Auli’i Cravalho as the titular heroine and Dwayne Johnson as Maui and showcases the life-changing journey of a tenacious 16-year-old who teams up with the mighty demigod Maui to fulfil an ancient quest.
